I sitt förord till Antigone skriver Lars-Håkan Svensson att trots dramats titel är Antigone inte ”den som förkroppsligar tragedins essens: den som begår  hamartia (misstag) och drabbas av  anagnórisis (igenkänning)” utan Kreon (11-12), hennes morbror och tillika kung av Thebe. Detta stämmer på ett plan men i Kristina Hagström-Ståhls regi av Antigone på Stadsteatern i höst finns det utrymme att fundera kring om Aristoteles teori om tragedins kraft inte ibland fungerar reduktivt i förhållande till de grekiska dramerna. Svensson påpekar att Kreons och Antigones handlingar är beroende av varandra men i den traditionella ram han ger för Antigones handlingar följer han den franske antropologen Jean-Pierre Vernants spår: Antigones skäl härrör sig ur ”en familjereligion, rent privat och begränsad till de nära släktingarna snäva krets” (12). I have been to a lot of plays over the years but not that many dress rehearsals. The ones I have been to have been pretty much the same as going to see the play. That was what I expected at the dress rehearsal for Pär Lagerkvist's Dvärgen, The Dwarf, at Gothenburg City Theatre on September 19th. That is not what we got. After one hour, the director Askhan Ghod stopped the performance, "That's enough. We will stop there."
